A strengthening low pressure system centered near Dubuque, Iowa at 200 am was producing widespread precipitation across Wisconsin. The precipitation will continue overnight as the low tracks toward east-central Wisconsin. The precipitation was snow in the north and rain across east- central and portions of central Wisconsin where temperatures were a little warmer. The rain/snow line extended from near Marshfield to Menominee County to near Wausaukee. The rain/snow line is expected to edge a little farther north in the next couple hours, then become stationary for a few hours before shifting back to the southeast. Locations near the transition zone that had air temperatures near freezing cold receive a little freezing rain or freezing drizzle. In areas receiving snow, the snow will be heavy at times. Snowfall rates exceeding 1 inch per hour are possible, especially between 300 am and 600 am. Northeast winds will also continue to increase in these areas, and will result in some blowing and drifting of the snow. Travel conditions will continue to deteriorate overnight, and very difficult travel conditions are likely for the morning commute. Be sure to use extra caution, and allow for a considerably slower than normal travel times. Areas in central and east-central Wisconsin that receive rain could see some ponding of water in low spots on roads, especially in urban areas where storm sewer grates may be obstructed by remaining leaves. The heaviest rains are expected to shift through the area between 200 am and 500 am. $$ Skowronski
