Gusty southwest to west southwest winds will occur in the wake of a departing cold front today. Sustained speeds of 10 to 20 mph are expected, with gusts of 30 to 35 mph at times. The higher wind gusts will diminish by early this evening. A potent upper level disturbance will move in late tonight into Monday, bringing another round of precipitation. This will start out as rain showers; however, as colder air moves in overnight tonight, rain showers will change over to snow showers. Warm ground temperatures will prevent much of the snow from sticking on main roads; however, some bridges and overpasses may see a light coating for the Monday morning commute. In general, less than half inch of snowfall is expected in the valleys. Ridgetops could see up to an inch. For elevations greater than 1500 feet in southeastern Kentucky, 1 to 3 inches of snowfall will be possible, with a much greater likelihood of slick roads for the Monday morning commute, as temperatures will drop below freezing. The snow showers will gradually taper off from west to east during the day. $$ GEOGERIAN
