Bands of heavy snow have been moving northward across the eastern Mohawk Valley, Schoharie County, Helderbergs, Capital and Saratoga Regions, the northern Taconics, southern Vermont and the Berkshires this evening. Snowfall rates have been one to two inches per hour at times and visibility is being reduced to one quarter mile or less. Based on radar trends and model guidance, periods of heavy snowfall will continue over the next few hours. Precipitation will finally start to decrease in intensity and coverage after 1 AM. Travel is highly discouraged overnight, as the combination of snow covered roads and low visibility will make for dangerous travel conditions. If you must travel, be sure to allow for extra time to reach your destination. $$ Frugis
