...An area of heavy snow will affect northwestern Washington... 

northeastern Hancock...southern Piscataquis...eastern Aroostook and 

and all of Penobscot Counties...



At 841 AM EST...An area of heavy snow stretched from Dover

Foxcroft to Houlton...and was moving north at 45 MPH.



Locations impacted include...

Lincoln, Bangor, Presque Isle, Caribou, Old Town, Houlton,

Millinocket, Dover-Foxcroft, Dexter, Fort Fairfield, Newport,

Limestone, Van Buren, Greenville, Guilford, Howland, Patten,

Danforth, Vanceboro and Mount Katahdin.



This includes the following highways...

 Interstate 95 between mile markers 157 and 304.

 US Highway 1 between Waite and Van Buren.

 State Highway 11 between Newport and Ashland.

 State Highway 9 between Dixmont and Eddington.



  * Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a half mile in this 

  area of heavy snow.



  * Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are expected in this area

  of heavy snow.



Heavy snow rates may result in difficult passage due to rapid build up

of snow on roadways before they are plowed. You may want to postpone

travel until heavy snow becomes lighter and plowing operations have

a chance to catch up. A few lightning strikes are also possible

with this area of heavy snow.
