...An area of heavy snow will affect northwestern Washington...

Piscataquis...Aroostook and Penobscot Counties...



At 1122 AM EST...An area of heavy snow stretched from Caribou and 

Houlton southwest to Dover Foxcroft...moving northwest at 30 MPH.



Locations impacted include...

Lincoln, Presque Isle, Caribou, Houlton, Millinocket, Dover-Foxcroft,

Fort Kent, Madawaska, Dexter, Fort Fairfield, Newport, Limestone, Van

Buren, Greenville, Guilford, Howland, Patten, Eagle Lake, Danforth

and Mount Katahdin.



This includes the following highways...

 Interstate 95 between mile markers 157 and 164, and between mile

markers 206 and 304.

 US Highway 1 between Danforth and Fort Kent.

 State Highway 11 between Newport and Fort Kent.



  * Visibilities will drop to less than a quarter mile in this area 

of heavy snow.



  * Snowfall rates of 2 inches per hour have been reported in this 

area of heavy snow, with 4 to 6 inches occurring in a period of 2 to 

3 hours.



Travel is not advised during this heavy snow. Rapid visibility 

reduction and snow covered roads are likely to lead to accidents. 

Consider delaying travel until the heavy snow passes your location.
