...An area of heavy snow will affect Piscataquis...northern Aroostook

and north central Penobscot Counties...



At 137 PM EST...An area of heavy snow stretched from Central 

Aroostook County southwest to Moosehead Lake... and was moving 

northwest at 25 MPH.



Locations impacted include...

Presque Isle, Caribou, Fort Kent, Madawaska, Fort Fairfield,

Limestone, Van Buren, Greenville, Eagle Lake, Deboullie Mountain,

Mount Katahdin, Clayton Lake, Ripogenus, Portage, Mapleton, Washburn,

Mars Hill, Ashland, Easton and Woodland.



This includes the following highways...

 US Highway 1 between Bridgewater and Fort Kent.

 State Highway 11 between Masardis and Fort Kent.



  * Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter mile in 

  this area of heavy snow.



  * Snowfall rates of 2 inches per hour are occurring in this area 

of heavy snow.



Travel is not advised during this heavy snow. The snow is falling at 

a rate such that several inches will be accumulating on roads before 

plows have a chance to catch up. Consider delaying travel until the 

heavy snow passes your location. A few rumbles of thunder are also 

possible during the heavy snow.
