Today: A weakening area of low pressure will move into southern California today and across southern Nevada tonight. Snow will spread across the eastern Sierra this morning then north and east into the Tahoe Basin and western Nevada this afternoon. Confidence is highest in several inches of snow accumulation across Mono County and foothills of Mineral and southern Lyon Counties. However, light snow could spread as far north as the I-80 corridor during the late morning and afternoon and produce some spotty light accumulations for foothill locations. For this weekend: A stronger storm is forecast to arrive Friday afternoon and continue over the weekend. This storm will bring another round of heavy wet snow to the high Sierra and rain for the lower elevations. As snow levels fall late Saturday afternoon into Sunday, some snow accumulation is possible for northeast California and foothills locations as well. If you have plans to travel through the Sierra this weekend, make sure to watch the weather forecast closely. $$ http://weather.gov/reno
