At 140 PM EST, a band of moderately heavy lake effect snow is along the Lake Erie shoreline and inland across Buffalo and towards Batavia. This band of snow is slowly settling southward. Visibilities within this snowband are lowering to a half mile, with snow creating slushy- snow covered roads. Untreated roads will be slush covered and slick, especially secondary roads, bridges and overpasses. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination for this afternoon and early evening commute. Snow will continue across Ski Country and the Western Southern Tier this evening. Locations impacted include... Buffalo, West Seneca, Jamestown, Lackawanna, Dunkirk, Fredonia, Hamburg, East Aurora, Evans, Elma, Boston, Eden, Marilla, Springville, Perry, Warsaw, Bennington, Colden and Orchard Park. This includes the following highways... Interstate 90 between exits 61 and 55. Interstate 86 between exits 4 and 16. Visibilities will drop quickly to a half mile in this band of lake effect snow. Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time when traveling.
