Fog is developing, and is causing the greatest impact to the southwestern edges of the Houston metro and into the rural areas southwest of Houston. Visibilities across widespread areas are being reduced to below 2 miles, with many locations below 1 mile. Within this widespread foggy area, there are locations that are dropping to one quarter mile or less at times. This fog could pose hazards to those driving in the area this morning, particularly in the isolated spots of dense fog. If you will be driving this morning, leave a bit early, and allow for extra time to arrive at your destination. Be alert for rapid changes in visibility, and be prepared to slow down to a safe speed for conditions. If you encounter fog, use only your low beam headlights and leave extra distance between you and other vehicles. A cold front is approaching the area, and will put an end to the fog threat when it moves through later in the morning. Until then, fog will remain a possibility. $$
