Shallow moisture along and behind a cold front approaching the Upper Peninsula from the west will move into the west parts of Upper Michigan later this morning, and central parts of Upper Michigan this afternoon and evening. Precipitation looks to start off as drizzle, but as temperatures fall into the 20s behind the front, precipitation will switch over to a wintry mix of snow and freezing drizzle. Untreated surfaces may become icy, especially bridges and overpasses. If more freezing drizzle materialized than snow, a glaze of ice will be possible on roadways, sidewalks, and elevated surfaces. Late tonight into early Monday morning, colder air and deeper moisture arrives and will allow any lingering freezing drizzle to switch over to snow. Motorists should use caution when traveling this afternoon through tonight, and allow for extra time to reach your intended destination. While precipitation will remain light today, icy spots on roadways can be difficult to spot, travel at speeds appropriate for conditions and leave extra spacing between vehicles. $$ Ritzman
