...Burst of Snow with Intense Snow Rates Moving Through Northwest 

into North Central Iowa...



At 702 AM CST, Doppler radar was tracking a band of snow with 

intense snow rates along a line extending from near Fairmont, MN to 

near Sloan, IA. Movement was east at 30 mph.



A quick and dramatic drop in visibility with this snow band is 

expected with visibilities falling below a mile and even as low as 

half a mile. Winds gusts over 30 mph will accompany this snow band, 

which will also aid in the visibility reduction.



Locations impacted include...

Highway 20 between Schaller and just west of Webster City, Highway 

30 between Denison and Grand Junction, Highway 169 between Boxholm 

and the Iowa Minnesota border, Fort Dodge, Carroll, Denison, 

Estherville, Algona, Jefferson, Forest City, Emmetsburg, Garner, Sac 

City, Pocahontas, Rockwell City, Dakota City, Humboldt, Lake Mills, 

Britt, Lake City, Manson, Manning and Coon Rapids.



Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be 

prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra 

time when traveling.
