Temperatures have fallen below the freezing mark across much of northern New York as of 7:00 pm. Any standing water on roadways, especially secondary roads, will have the chance to experience black ice. Drier air will be moving in later tonight to help dry the pavement and limit the threat of black ice during the overnight hours. Until then...please use caution when traveling across northern New York tonight through the early morning hours. $$ VTZ001>012-016>019-110615- Grand Isle-Western Franklin-Orleans-Essex-Western Chittenden- Lamoille-Caledonia-Washington-Western Addison-Orange- Western Rutland-Windsor-Eastern Franklin-Eastern Chittenden- Eastern Addison-Eastern Rutland- Including the cities of Alburgh, South Hero, St. Albans, Newport, Island Pond, Burlington, Johnson, Stowe, St. Johnsbury, Montpelier, Middlebury, Vergennes, Bradford, Randolph, Rutland, Springfield, White River Junction, Enosburg Falls, Richford, Underhill, Bristol, Ripton, East Wallingford, and Killington 728 PM EST Tue Dec 10 2019 ...Expect Black Ice Across Parts Of Vermont Tonight... Temperatures will be falling below the freezing mark across much of Vermont between 8:00 pm and midnight tonight. Wet roadways still exist over all but parts of northwest Vermont. Drier air will not make it into Vermont until the early morning hours. Thus with the falling temperatures and wet pavement black ice is expected to develop as the night wears on. The greatest area of concern for black ice appears to be south and east of Burlington and most notably across central and southern Vermont. This is where observations continue to indicate wet roads and pavement. Please use caution when traveling across portions of Vermont tonight and into the early morning hours as black ice is expected to form. $$ Evenson
